Life has been very chaotic for Daniel,
Heidi and their small children. In the midst of going through chemo treatments,
mid-terms at Cal Poly, job interviews…they have moved. I don’t think I could
imagine a more stressful situation…and yet God working through all of us has
provided for their needs. I can’t thank you enough for your prayers, help with
moving, baby sitting, house cleaning, home repairs, painting…and meals! I owe
you a debt of gratitude.
Last week the doctor called with
Daniel’s PET scan results. The tech's
exact words were "there is a significant decrease in size and
activity". This means the chemo treatments are working! The doctor said he was calling this one… a
VICTORY! Even though the PET scan came back clear, the doctor still wants
Daniel to finish treatments. However, he did say that he most likely won't be
giving him another PET scan because he was pleased enough with the progress and
results. You don't want to have more PET scans than necessary because you
expose your body to radioactive material that can cause damage. So for the doc
to say that Dan doesn't need another was very encouraging. That means that 7
weeks from now, he'll be done!
Please continue to hold Daniel in
prayer, his risk of infection is high.
He has two more months of chemo (four treatments). This June he is scheduled to
graduate from Cal Poly Pomona
with a degree in Mechanical Engineering!

it two weeks before he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, last September.
He has always had a great sense of humor, spirit, energy and what I call
“bounce” the ability to come back from adversity. This picture says to me…

ReplyDeleteOh my! Such good news. I can't imagine how Daniel & his little family are coping with so many stressful issues, but he seems to have the kind of attitude and ability to overcome adversity. ReplyDeleteI am SO happy to hear good news. My little church here in FL has been lifting Daniel up each Sunday. And I do believe in the power of prayer! We plan to continue until I read that he is done with his chemo. And moving? OMGosh. You are right...amazing. Thank you for keeping us all updated. Hugs to you, mom, as well.

ReplyDeleteYesterday I watched the babies while Daniel had chemo. When he left he was tired from studying...school is a tough. When he came home from chemo all color was gone from his skin, his eyes drained of sparkle... My heart aches. Wish I could take the suffering on my shoulders, for him.
I feel so blessed to receive your words of support, love and prayers. The battle is almost over...but not finished yet. Please continue to keep him in prayer.

Life is a blessing and each day a gift from God to be savored facing down cancer can make each day sweeter... working on year 6 since my cancer surgery... I love this picture of Daniel... it shows his heart and his victory is in sight.

I will continue to hold them in my thoughts and prayers...the next two months will be over before you know it and you will all be celebrating his graduation. ReplyDeleteGod Bless your Daniel... I have 2 sons also, one is just his age, in his last year of college for Mechanical engineering. My heart goes out to you..i can't imagine what you are all going through, but he sounds like an incredible young man!! And once he gets through this, he'll know for the rest of his life he can handle anything! You're in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteWow, we have a lot in common. It has been an emotional roller coaster for sure. I am grateful he will be finished with chemo soon (on Good Friday). Two more rounds of chemo and he is done!
DeleteBrenda...I just now found your blog via Pinterest! As soon as I started reading your blog re your son Daniel, I recognized your heartfelt words! My son, age 33 was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma 10 I/2 years ago, also in September, and has been cancer free since completing his chemo! His wife was 5 months pregnant with their first child @ the time of his diagnosis.

What a delightful note! The great news is yesterday Daniel had his final chemo treatment. I can't wait for him to have easier days and have energy to enjoy his two tiny children. The last 6 months have been tough.
