I am a drawing convert. In 1996 I was challenged to do a sketch a day
in pen. I tossed my pencil and eraser and worked only in pen. At first the task felt overwhelming. But in a short period of time things began to change. Not only did my drawings improve so did my observation skills, design, edge quality, and confidence. It seems like such a simple concept but it does have a way of making a huge difference. My passion for drawing has stayed with me. Here are just a few reasons why I love to draw:

*Size is non threatening.
*For the FUN of it- I like to sketch!
*Sketching I do for me –Painting I do for others
*Travel and Personal Journal: an illustrated record of my life.
*When I draw I really see the subject for the first time.
*A sketch is complete unto itself. It need not go any further.
*A place to watch my progress. (my books are numbered and dated)
*A sketch is a truer reflection of me, compared to a painting which
is me dressed up and on my best behavior.
*My sketchbooks are my greatest tool as an artist. A place to explore
subjects matter, design, value…

The sketch challenge was a big turning point in my life as an artist. I want to pass along the experience to others. That is how the "Artistic License" came to be. I found a reward was a great motivator. The only way someone can get an Artistic License is to do the 75 Day Sketch Challenge.
When you complete the challenge make sure your email me directly at: SwensonsArt@gmail.com

I really like the idea of this and I want to do it! I've printed a copy as a reminder and hope to do it in September/October timeframe. Thanks for the suggestion and encouragement.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear you are taking the sketching challenge. I've heard from numerous people who are stepping up to the challenge.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the process and keep it fun!
Hi,Brenda. I just came across your web site and I would like to do the challenge. Thanks for the idea!
DeleteCindy B
I am on day 12. The day after I started I found out that I will be moving in the next few months. I have a LOT of sorting and tossing and deaccessioning to do before then. My immediate thought was to not take on any new projects. But I had already started. And that time, usually at the end of the day, is an absolute delight and mind-clearing blessing. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteRachael, Thank you for sharing how much sketching has enriched your life. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sketching!
Brenda
Oh Brenda what an amazing challenge!
ReplyDeleteLet me think about it for a few days and I hope to set a start time. I already a sketch book lover but not quite as this challenge would demand!

I would like to thank you for the 75 day challenge. I had so much fun from sketching objects to taking a online vacation to United States National Parks. Can't vacation with family obligations at this time in my life. So again thank you!

Pamela, Thank you for sharing your sketches on Flicker! Not easy to photograph and post all the images. I enjoyed what you wrote and how you created your own vacation in your own way. Even though you didn't get to travel you still were able to slip away through a sketch of all the locations...loved it!
ReplyDeletePLEASE email me your photo so I can reward you with an "Artistic License" for completing the 75 Day Challenge.
Happy Sketching!
Brenda
I'm in and I'm going to encourage my studio members to jump on board as well. Do you mind if I set up a support group in our on line studio for this, Brenda??
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful project... Love it!
ReplyDeleteSimple, yet inspiring. ThIs challenge is very motivational, without having to be overwhelmed. Count me in! :)
Effy, welcome to the sketch challenge. I don't mind if you set-up a support group...I think encouragement and sharing is a wonderful thing!
ReplyDeleteartistaprilcole...welcome to you, too!
Happy Sketching!
This is a great idea...I think I just might have to take this one on....I have so many moleskines I got on sale that need to be used and filled up with drawings. This sketchbook challenge might be perfect for them.
ReplyDeleteI love moleskines...got two more today. Heading to Tuscany soon. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI am afraid to draw but here I go....wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm rooting for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm not good at drawing even stick figures, but I'm going to dive in!
ReplyDeleteI started on August 14th when I first ran across your challenge. And I had just come home from my local art store with a "Pen Sketcher's" sketch pad. I'm already improving in that I no longer think of getting out the pencil and eraser first. Some have been mis-hits, but most are very acceptable. And I'm having fun! Glad I jumped in.
ReplyDeleteDear Brenda
ReplyDeleteI live outside US.Can I still participate in this project?
I love this idea. I am not so good at sketching, so this will be good practice, and I will start at the beginning of September. Greetings from Germany, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI just came across your site and love this idea. I think I'd like to take up the challenge as well. I don't sketch or draw well at all. So this would be a good way to practice. But using pen only...that scares me :)
ReplyDeleteAny recommendations as to what kind of pen to use? At the moment all I have are graphite pencils.
Hi Brenda,
ReplyDeleteI'm doing your challenge, and I blogged about it on my blog.
http://alifein-progress.blogspot.com/2011/08/75-sketches-in-75-days.html
Happy sketching!
I'm doing the challenge too. Today is day 18 for me. I've been posting my sketches to flickr and to my blog. Thanks for the challenge - I'm enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteJanelle and Cheryl, Great news to hear two more fellow artists have joined the challenge!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sketching!
Hi Brenda.....at the suggestion of my friend, Ginny Stiles I have taken up the challenge! I began on August 15th and am now on day 38. Since Ginny and I began several of our friends have also taken the challenge....we are all enjoying and learning from it. Thanks. Joan
ReplyDeleteI have reached day 38, too, halfway there! Thanks for the challenge, often I find lots of difficulty in rendering what I see, but when I break it down to smaller pieces I am more successful, in the past I would have given up, Thanks.
ReplyDelete@ VWoziak, Thanks for share your new found joy and confidence in sketching. I look forward to hearing from you on day 75! When you have finished email me at SwensonsArt@gmail.com. I need you to email me a photo and mailing address for your artistic license.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sketching!
Brenda
Thanks, Brenda, you.will be hearing from me!
ReplyDeleteI set up a Flickr group where folks can share their daily challenge drawings... here's the link... http://www.flickr.com/groups/1765124@N24/
ReplyDeleteHope you'll all join in.
I received my Artistic License yesterday. What fun! Thank you Brenda! It was so encouraging to have a small goal to work toward, and I began to look forward to that daily ink sketching which, of course, was a wonderful goal in itself. I am continuing with my own goals now using water soluble inks and pencils, and permanent ink plus watercolor. I'm having a great time and thank you for getting me started on working daily. I also love that I now have one of your beautiful cards, and your signature to clip to your book Keeping a Watercolor Sketchbook which I have had since before I discovered your blog! Thanks again! Linda
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteI am delighted to read your message. You got the whole idea behind the daily sketching! Keep up the momentum and take your new sense of creativity into your work with soluble inks!
Happy Sketching!
Brenda
I've been trying to fit in the sketching around getting my house ready for move in. Working on the house has pre-empted a lot of my art time. As it happens, my 75th day lands on the day I'm moving, which is tomorrow, Oct 31st. I love that I'll accomplish both the goal of moving and the goal of the sketches. :)
ReplyDeleteWeird I can not find my original post of day one Oct 1st! Only have two more days to go! I am so excited to be near the finish line but am working on making a new sketch journal to continue sketching everyday!
ReplyDeleteLOL Sometimes It really scares me when my mind goes off on vacation! I started my Sketches Sept 1st not Oct 1st and I still cannot find my original post! Old timers happens to the best of us sooner or later!
ReplyDeleteI'm re-dedicating myself to this challenge (although maybe I never did commit to it previously like I thought I had!!). So, let the fun begin!
ReplyDeleteCarol, Wonderful...let the fun begin!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sketching!
Brenda
I have read this post many, many times ... I finally decided I am going for the challenge!
ReplyDeleteThis challenge has me really intrigued and I thought others would love to read about it as well, so I created a side link to your challenge in each of my blogs.
ReplyDeletewww.irelandbrady.blogspot.com
www.hummingbelles.blogspot.com
I hope you don't mind ... if you do, please let me know and I'll remove the links.
Happy Day!
Ireland, Welcome to the Sketch Challenge! I encourage others from all over the world to give it a try so I don't mind you creating a link. I am delighted to say I've awarded Artistic licenses to people in Thailand, New Zealand, Canada, and all over the United States...pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sketching!
Brenda
Well, I am on Day 2 ... a mere 73 days to go!
ReplyDeleteThe most challenging part of this challenge was to NOT use a pencil and erasure to block in a rough draft ... I was a bit scared when I first put ink to paper; but then I began and it was not as difficult as I had anticipated. I soon realized the fear was in my head, not in my hand ....
Ireland, Good for you! I enjoy pen so much I rarely use a pencil anymore. It is quite freeing!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sketching!
Brenda
Well, I have just finished my Day Seven sketch and I must say, I am beginning to like this new concept of approaching a sketch. I'm starting to use light reference dots to keep the sketches somewhat in proportion, I do still miss my pencil and eraser however! Now I have to work my mistakes into the illustration....but I am thoroughly enjoying this challenge. Thank you again!
ReplyDeleteIreland, You're on the right track! Sketching with pen is contagious...before long you won't miss your pencil and eraser, at all!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sketching!
Brenda
I have just completed my Day 39 Sketch .... but I still miss my pencil and eraser for outlining initial shapes ... guess I'm just hopeless that way! But am committed to NO pencil or eraser in this 75 Day Challenge! Yahoo! I have passed the halfway mark!
ReplyDeleteI love the "75 Day Sketch Challenge" Group on Flickr .... seeing what others are doing and watching how they are improving is wonderful inspiration!
Wonderful, you are on the home stretch now...keep going!
ReplyDeleteKeep it going...you're gonna do it!
ReplyDeleteI'm on Day 45 of my sketch challenge! Thank you so much, Brenda, for the challenge. I already feel more comfortable with drawing (I don't hesitate quite as long before making that first mark with a pen), and I'm grateful for that. Your work is so inspirational, Brenda, the ink and watercolor style is just what I want to work on now, and because of your work (and other's too!) I know I want to work primarily in a sketchbook, at least for now. I love how a sketchbook gives me a "place" for my practice, and gives me pages to flip through in the future to look back on my experiences.
ReplyDeleteStacy, Wonderful...keep it going! You're doing a great job. You've begun to understand, explore, and enjoy creativity.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sketching!
Brenda
Hi Brenda, I just wanted to let you know that I finally discovered that sketching in ink (with no pencil or eraser) does have its merits. Today I sketched an African Violet, if I would have begun it with pencil ... I do not believe it would have turned out as well, in fact ... I honestly feel a pre-pencil sketch would have obstructed what I wanted to accomplish and ended up confusing me.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I always yearn to fall back on the security of a pencil outline, I haven't "cheated" and, in fact, am finding that leaning on the pencil and eraser can, in many ways, obstruct creativity. Yesterday I was working on a project (unrelated to this challenge) and put in pencil lines, didn't like them, erased them and just started in with the pen. The results were what I was seeking.
I am learning a valuable lesson with this challenge ... sometimes it is best to go of your instincts and let the artistic juices flow ...
Thank you Brenda
Thank you for a lovely note! Sounds like you have discovered the real joy of sketching with pen. Isn't it wonderful to trust your hand and let creativity take over? I am delighted for you!
DeleteHappy Sketching!
Hey Brenda! I did it! I completed the Challenge! Will be sending you my info...
ReplyDeleteThank You for this wonderful experience!
Congratulations!!!! I look forward to rewarding you with an Artistic License.

Hi Brenda,
ReplyDeleteI started the Challenge 6 days ago after I read about it at the blog of IrelandBrady.
I think it's a great Challenge.
At my blog I did make a page to show my drawings.
Thanks, and greetings from Holland,
Mariët.

Hi Brenda, I would love to take the challenge. This is a perfect way for me to practice sketching. I started on May 30th and I'm 5 for 5! Thank you, Marjorie
ReplyDeleteWonderful, Marjorie!
DeleteBrenda, this is such a fabulous idea! I'm beginning today. I love to draw with pen because I'm more focused and loose simultaneously. Sketching for 75 days will be so good for me. Thank you for doing this!
ReplyDeleteSuzie, Wonderful! Remember to enjoy the journey and keep the sketch challenge fun.
DeleteHappy Sketching!
Woo Hoo! Done! 75 days... 2 and a half months! No pencil... at all. I've learned so much not only about drawing but also about myself. I first started in April with Roz Stendahl's Fake journal project then went to Every Day in May and just continued the EDM challenges into June. I've got them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/burrda2k/
ReplyDeleteThanks Brenda! email on the way!
Yeah! Send you photo and mailing address to SwensonsArt@gmail.com
DeleteCongratulations!
Aha... you have two entries on the blog about this challenge. I just posted on the previous one (from 8/9/2010) so I'll mention it here too. Joining up, thanks to Leslie F and Teri C. :)
ReplyDeleteKatie, I got them both...Happy Sketching!
DeleteI love this idea...having a contract to commit to sketch 75 days straight. I am a participant of the sketchcrawl and event by Urbansketchers, http://www.urbansketchers.org/. I do sketch but not everyday. So I'll be go for the challenge. Thanks for sharing this, Brenda!
ReplyDeleteHi Marlene, Welcome to the sketch challenge!
DeleteI just finished a drawing class last week so this is a great way to continue drawing. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi BigBlue, Hope you have continued to draw daily!
DeleteI just started in the book "Your Artist Brain" where you are to draw everyday. I thinking signing up for this will help me reach the goal. Thanks for this
ReplyDeleteHi Florence, Drawing every day is a great way to meet the goal and grow as an artist! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Brenda, could I still sign up for this challenge? It sounds like fun and something I would really like to acheive. :)
ReplyDeleteSmiles and waves,
Joy
Hi Joy, Anyone can start at any time. All that is required is you let me know your start date and follow the guidelines.
DeleteHappy Sketching!
Yay! I didn't see this until today! :) Thanks so much! :)
DeleteHi Brenda - I've toyed with the idea of doing this for a long time now, but have failed miserably in the past - i.e. not keeping up with Fake Journal month, Every Day in May, etc. But you're right - a reward is a great motivator - I really want an artistic license! How cool is that?! ;^) So I am starting today, August 12, 2012. Thanks for the encouragement, Janet
ReplyDeleteHi Janet,
DeleteWelcome to the sketch challenge! Remember to enjoy sketching and not make it a daunting task or chore. Take your sketchbook everywhere and along the way you will become a sketching convert ;-)
Happy Sketching!
Hi, Brenda. Had a real good start, but then some pressing things came up. Have missed a few weeks. Can I start up again and still qualify? I'm part of the 75 Day Sketch Challenge group and have been posting there.
ReplyDeletePatty Wayte
Hi Patty, Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...the 75 sketches have to be completed in 75 consecutive days.
ReplyDeleteI have done the challenge when I've was teaching workshops all over the country . I had to do my sketch at the end of a teaching day. I always do extra sketches on good days just encase "life" gets in the way.
Happy Sketching!
Hi Brenda, Great challange. I shall do this....and you will hear from me in 75 days..:) Love trine P. Denmark
ReplyDeleteI did it before, I am even sketching (almost) daily for over a year now, but I did not subscribe here. Do I really need to fill in the form? Do I have to send it to you, Brenda?
ReplyDeleteNo problem anyway. I will start a new series. And maybe I will buy a real drawing pen, because until now I used ballpoint and fineliner (marker).
Greetings, Inge.
Inge, you only need to email me the day you start and the day you finish. Once you finish I'll need a photo and mailing address to send it to.
DeleteHappy Sketching!
Thank you. I'll e-mail you the day I'll be officially started!
DeleteHI Brenda, I definately want to participate. I followed your challenge here from Artist Workshop FB group. I always use pen (very rarely a pencil) so I'm geared up for the 75 day challenge. Cheerios!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the sketch challenge, Darlene!
DeleteYikes! Seventy-five days in pen!? I can do this. And really want that license! So generous of you to offer. Will try to mount a significant support system and go for it. Thanks for the carrot (since the stick seems to be the pen...).
ReplyDelete:-)
Serena
Of course you can do it! I look forward to rewarding your efforts with a carrot (aka Artistic License).
DeleteHi Brenda,
ReplyDeleteI started this challenge on October 1st and hope to make it to the finish line. I've also joined the FB group to share my sketches there as well as on my blog.
Thanks so much for this wonderful encouragement,
Serena :)
Serena, welcome to the sketch challenge!
DeleteSuch a good idea Brenda, thank you! Looking forward to starting the challenge :)
ReplyDeleteAura, Welcome to the sketch challenge!
DeleteHi Brenda, My friends told me about your 75-day challenge, and I started on Saturday. Many thanks for the idea. I've been journaling for years and usually have several journals on the go (daily, travel, food/diet, special projects, etc.). When I bought a new blank Moleskine sketchbook on Saturday, my hubby teased, "You have a journal for everything but the toilet." My first sketch? You guessed it--the toilet in the powder room. :) Paula
ReplyDeleteMy friend Shiho and I are planning to take the challenge. We will encourage each other and today, we started a 'visual diary' to sketch during 75 consecutive days.
ReplyDeleteWe hope to have it ready by the end of the year!!!
Rix, Wonderful...I look forward to hearing from you again in 75 days!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sketching!
Brenda, I saw the information about the 75 day challenge on Joan Y.'s site. I have been sitting here in this crowded apartment, frustrated with myself and my "situation." I can't think of a better thing to do than to commit to something other than cleaning the apartment, doing the activities of daily living, and worrying about nearly everything. I am joining you, and the many others, in this challenge. Thank you for being a blessing to me today.
ReplyDeleteFrankye
Frankye, Welcome to the sketch challenge! It sounds like you need a change. Sketching has the way of lifting my spirits and for the moment removing the daily concerns, stress...of life. You might also enjoy joining a group on Facebook called "75 Day Sketch Challenge". Happy Sketching!
DeleteHi Brenda! I'm ready to start the 75 day challenge starting 10-29-12. It's scheduled to end 1-11-13. But, hopefully it will be a beginning. A beginning of a habit of drawing something every day.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Sketch Challenge!
DeleteI am on day 11 of the challenge. I hope to email you in January when completed... wooooooohooo
ReplyDeletemy passion is abstract/fun kats. so I am challenging myself to draw a kat a day. Looking at my surroundings for inspiration for designs.
ReplyDeleteTeena, Welcome to the sketch challenge!!! Remember to keep it fun...explore pens, techniques, along with new kats! Happy Sketching!
DeleteHi Brenda,
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of this. I already sketch and draw everyday, all day if I can. I started a new sketchbook on Friday as I need to do more real life sketching not just the whimsey stuff in my head and I decided to band the rubber/eraser. I've been using pencils in different softness from HB to 6B and coloured pencils and pen. I would love to take part in your challenge. I should be able to email you mid February 2013. I will stick to pen...with some added colour, just because I like colour, if that is ok. :)
Catherine, Welcome to the sketch challenge. ~Happy Sketching!
ReplyDelete6 days to go - love this challenge its very freeing to put away the eraser
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI would love to do this too. I have been doing a lot of ink sketching and then just got into a lazy time where I haven't been sketching at all for at least a month or so. This will help me get motivated again. I think it's fun idea and I just found you today. Thanks
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the sketch challenge, Tascarini!
DeleteHi Brenda,
ReplyDeletefollowing a link from Cathy Johnson's Newsletter I got to your blog. Your 75 day challenge will be met. Today I'm going to get sketchbooks to dedicate to it.
Thank you for putting a great idea in motion.
Best regards
Jen
Welcome to the sketch challenge, Jen!
DeleteI am inspired and jumping in to participate. The real challenge may wind up being whether or not my drawn objects are identifiable. ;) Drawing is something I have always wanted to be able to do and there's no time like the present, eh?! So here I go...
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the sketch challenge. Don't worry about being fast...slow down and learn to REALLY look. Happy Sketching!
DeleteOh this is a great idea! Serena Lewis introduced me to this idea and now that I've read this post, it's so up my alley. I'll need to buy a new sketchbook and get some pens. Exciting!
ReplyDeleteIreana, welcome to the sketch challenge!
DeleteI've started the challenge today...and written about it on my blog:
ReplyDeletehttp://chica1665.blogspot.com/2012/12/75-day-challenge-day-one.html
Thanks for this great opportunity. I'm happy to be a part of this group.
Llena, wonderful! Have fun with the experience. Thanks for the link to your blog, too. Very nice.
DeleteHappy Sketching!
I've just found your blog and am delighted to take up the sketch challenge. What a great idea. What should I do next?
ReplyDeleteHi Tree,
ReplyDeleteNext thing to do is read over the guidelines and send me your full name and starting date. Happy Sketching!
This is a great idea! I love it! <3 I'm going to start it on 12/15 just so it's easier for me to keep track of! Going to try to step it up a notch and do 75 sketch pages instead of number of sketches. :D
ReplyDeleteAisazia, Welcome to the sketch challenge. Happy Sketching!
DeleteI have been in a pot-hole - well really it's extending into a rut! And I have fallen out of the habit of drawing every day. I am opening my new sketchbook which will be dedicated to this challenge and my new habit! You are an inspiration to keep on with my art. I will be starting tomorrow on the 17th of December. Thanks for the push.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the sketch challenge! Nothing worse than falling into a rut...glad to help you get out of it =~)
DeleteHappy Sketching!
I know that the challenge requires pen and ink with no pencil/eraser. Does that also include no watercolor?
ReplyDeleteJeanne Price
Michelle watercolor is allowed after the pen drawing is finished. The pen drawing is the dominate element. Happy Sketching!
DeleteHi Brenda, Have just received my artistic license and lovely card in the mail. Thank you so much - I feel I have really acheived something. I loved doing the challenge and am not so intimidated by "mistakes" especially as they can add to a sketch in interesting ways. thank you again - hoping you have a Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year - Sara Bolus
ReplyDeleteYou are more than welcome, Sara. You earned it!
DeleteHappy Sketching!
Hi, Brenda. I don't sketch enough, and your 75 day challenge sounds like a good way to kick start a sketching habit. I began on December 19, and have posted my sketches on the Facebook page. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteMichelle Himes
Michelle, Welcome to the sketch challenge!Happy Sketching!
DeleteI'm starting! Thank you! This is a perfect way for me to start the New Year, and Happy New Year to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteJanuary 2, 2013, Jean Levert hood
Jean, Welcome to the sketch challenge!
DeleteHello Brenda....I wanted to thank you again for providing us this sketching challenge. I received your card today containing my artistic license and I was like a kid at Christmas opening up that envelop. The challenge ended up providing me the courage to draw permanent lines with no pencil guide lines and midway through, I surprisingly became more confident in my sketching. This challenge is so worth the time and effort. Thanks again and Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteAn online arty friend of mine just suggested this challenge to me as I'm currently in limbo (literally-we're mid relocation from Ireland to Scotland and most of my art gear is packed up in storage while I stay at my parents until our new house is ready!) I love the idea of this and doing it without the safety net of a pencil and eraser! I just need to dig out a skwtchbook and I'm good to start!
ReplyDeleteNic, Welcome to the sketch challenge!
ReplyDeleteHi Brenda, I see by the previous post you keep this up? I am starting a sketching class with high school kids. Can I use your guide lines with them? I don't know how many days we have left of school but I start in Feb and want to challenge them to draw everyday.
ReplyDeleteI too am starting again. I have been doing a painting a day 30 in 30 and medical issues with my son have put that to a stop. sketchbook has always been a dear companion at the hospital in the past and during appointments and my kids sport practices....so here's to a fresh start!
Susan, Yes, you may use the guidelines with your students. With your help and encouragement, and guidance they have a better chance of succeeding!
ReplyDeleteI have faced health issues with my son, too. You have my best wishes and prayers for your sons complete healing.
Hugs,
Brenda
Hello, Brenda. I just completed the challenge and I've seen a great improvement improvement in my sketches since day one. Most people are actually preferring the ink sketches rather than the colored pencil or graphite portraits I drew in the past. Thanks to you, Brenda, and this challenge I feel more confidence in sketching the face. I've also enjoyed being a part of the Facebook group (what wonderful artists and artwork!) and hopefully soon I will sketch more THINGS and not just people. Thanks again and I will e-mail you my address in a bit for the license. Happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteIleana, I've followed your work on the groups Facebook page and I have enjoyed watching you mature in your observations skills and drawing ability. It's a privilege to reward you with an Artistic License".
DeleteHappy Sketching!
Hi Brenda,
ReplyDeleteI've decided I am going to start the 75 day challenge tonight :) I'm looking forward to this being the motivation that keeps me sketching every day, so thank you for that!
Kristine, Welcome to the sketch challenge!
DeleteHello Brenda, I have just begun the challenge, and already enjoying it.
ReplyDelete-suvitha
Hi Brenda,
ReplyDeleteAt the encouragement of Earnest Ward, I'm beginning the 75 day challenge today. Was pleasantly surprised to see you still seem to periodically check back in to this long-ago post. Thanks for the motivation.
Steve, welcome to the sketch challenge. Be sure to notify me by email when you finish.
DeleteHappy Sketching!
Hi Brenda a friend of mine did your challenge and was telling me about it so today I took the plunge and did my first sketch. I feel this will be a great challenge and one I will love and enjoy. Thanks so much for inspiring me to take up the challenge and get my creativity flowing again.
ReplyDeleteRose, Wonderful! I look forward to receiving an email in 75 days that says, "I did it".
DeleteHappy Sketching!
Thanks Brenda. I have done two sketches now and already have learned so much. I know now I need to watch my angles and proportions. At the end of each sketch I wrote what I felt was wrong with the sketch and then later took a photo of the item I was sketching and then my sketch and put them together in coral side by side and wow does it stand out. I found this helpful though as I feel sometimes we may not be so critical on ourselves. I learned from it that I was correct about the proportions but not the angles. But I am so pleased I started this challenge of yours and am so excited about it as I know I will learn so very much along my journey so again thank you.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the journey, Rose. Happy Sketching!
